Meals Movement x Microsoft: A Day of Kindness, Compassion, and Connection
On May 3, 2025, Infinite Wave Foundation’s Meals Movement was once again energized by the incredible spirit of community and service—this time with a team of five passionate volunteers, four of whom came from Microsoft, and one who is a friend and fellow supporter from the Microsoft community.
Though this was their second time volunteering with IWF, it was their very first experience participating in the Meals Movement, and the impact they made was nothing short of inspiring.
More Than Just a Meals Movement
This particular Meals Movement held a deeper meaning for us. In truth, we almost didn’t go through with it.
Just one week prior, our community was shaken by a tragic accident during Lapu Lapu Day—an event that deeply impacted our hearts and left us mourning with the world. In the days that followed, we wrestled with whether we could find the strength to host this initiative.
But something called us forward. And we’re so grateful it did.
This Meals Movement became more than a day of volunteering. It was a source of healing, connection, and light during a dark time. The energy, compassion, and support from the Microsoft volunteers lifted our spirits and reminded us of why we do this work.
It wasn’t just sandwiches being made—it was hope, stitched together by kind hands and open hearts.
From Tech to Table: 150+ Sandwiches Made with Heart
With the support of our enthusiastic volunteers, we assembled over 150 hearty sandwiches for distribution to those experiencing food insecurity in our city. The team jumped right into action—quick learners, compassionate teammates, and full of joy. What touched us most was their thoughtful resourcefulness: even the ends of the bread were used to make sandwiches, showing just how committed they were to making every slice count.
As we packed up to head toward our distribution destination, one volunteer quietly asked, “Can we try one of the sandwiches we made?” The pride on their faces as they took that first bite was unforgettable—it was a moment of connection not just with the food, but with the purpose behind it.
Volunteering + Banana Muffins = A Perfect Match
No volunteer day is complete without some tasty fuel. We provided a small spread of snacks to keep the energy high, including a Breka apple strudel and a batch of freshly baked banana and chocolate chip mini muffins—a homemade treat from one of our directors. The muffins were a hit!
As conversations flowed, our volunteers asked thoughtful questions about Infinite Wave Foundation—who we are, what we stand for, and the heart behind our mission. Their support and curiosity reinforced just how much a shared purpose can bring people together.
One of the volunteers, E. Shaw, offered a quote that warmed all our hearts:
“I volunteered with the Meals Movement because I wanted to help people and meet more friends. It was a good activity. I love it. Infinite Wave Foundation is unique because they really do something to someone who need help. You did good job—nothing to improve. You are so kind and nice. I’m proud of what we did.” — E. Shaw
Safety, Awareness, and Respect
As always, we ensured that all volunteers were briefed on the neighborhood we would be visiting and reminded of safety precautions. We are deeply committed to protecting the well-being of our volunteers while honoring the dignity of those we serve.
Their kindness and respect during the distribution phase were truly beautiful to witness. They greeted each person with a smile, offering not just food, but compassion, dignity, and connection.
Thank You, Microsoft
